Hawke's Bay lost 29-0 to Wellington in the final of the Hurricanes under-16 rugby tournament in the capital yesterday.

Both teams were unbeaten before their match at the Petone Recreation Ground. Five members of the Breakers Cafe & Bar Hawke's Bay side were named in the tournament team.

They were Taradale High School prop Sean Morrison, the Napier Boys' High School pair of lock Edwin Laver and first five-eighth Caleb Makene, Lindisfarne College loosie Hugh Renton and St John's College midfield back Jonah Lowe. Despite playing in a losing pack Morrison was again powerful at scrum time.

Laver had a huge workrate and displayed plenty of ticker against bigger opponents while Renton, who played at openside flanker in the final, went close to winning the player-of-the-tournament award which was collected by a Wellington player. Renton was forced to leave the field with an injury yesterday which harmed his chances. Wellington led 12-0 at halftime in the final which was played in wet conditions.
