SOFTBALL: Bad-mouther off the hook

Fast Pitch softballer Puhi Rapaea has escaped further punishment in the wake of his ejection from the feature Hawke's Bay senior men's game on Saturday.

Third baseman Rapaea received his marching orders from umpire Greg Taylor for swearing during the first inning of the Shooters Fast Pitch side's 1-0 loss to Tamatea at Akina Park, Hastings. Taylor had warned Rapaea twice before ejecting him.

He is the third player to be ejected this season for swearing.

Softball Hawke's Bay executive officer Mark Carter said Rapaea's early departure from the game and his team's first loss of the season was sufficient punishment.
