A Hastings woman has admitted to stealing more than $660,000 from her employer during a seven-year period.

Vicky Lee Kyle, 35, worked at a Hastings business for 17 years as an office administrator, a role which gave her responsibility of paying creditors and wages. It also enabled her to repeatedly deposit money to her own account. This was done numerous times from 2006 to this year, and by January the amount of money she had stolen totalled $660,938.

She also used a fuel card belonging to the business for her own vehicle, bought items from the company's Mitre 10 account without deducting the amount from her wages as per company policy and paid her own bills with company money.

When caught, she said she was suffering from depression and she took the money as it enabled her to do things which made her feel better. Reparation of $666,040 is being sought.

She pleaded guilty to 10 representative charges of using a document for pecuniary advantage at Hastings District Court last week, where she was remanded on bail for sentencing in April.
