Tree felling brings delays

Motorists using SH5 between Napier and Taupo can expect slight delays in the Te Haroto region while an extensive tree-felling programme is taking place near the highway.

The programme got under way last Monday and is expected to be completed on June 11.

Speed restrictions and stop-go controls are in place, with the area also likely to be affected by short road closures at times.

It is one of three projects being carried out along the highway, the New Zealand Transport Agency has advised.

Strengthening work at the Mohaka River Bridge has largely been completed but some minor issues will remain for another few weeks.

Maintenance crews will also be at work at points between Te Pohue and Tarawera and minor traffic delays can be expected.

On SH2 between Napier and Gisborne repairs to the single-lane dropout south of Kotemaori are set to get under way.

The Napier City Council is undertaking major reconstruction of the SH2 Pandora Road/West Quay/ Humber St intersection. Work is expected to take two months to complete, with motorists advised to bypass the site by using the Expressway (SH2B) and Prebensen Drive where possible.
