Volunteers needed at two major community events
The police and community-based Blue Light organisation is staging two major events in Hawke's Bay this month and organisers are seeking volunteers to help out.
On Sunday Blue Light Ventures is staging a Forest Bike Trail fundraiser at the Castle Peak Station off the Taihape Rd, with the site sign-posted from Fernhill.
Blue Light spokesperson Barb Jenkinson said the event would be open to all ages with registration at 9am and rides kicking off at 10am for children and adults.
As part of the $25 entry fee for adults and $15 for children, some food would be provided, although families were encouraged to take a picnic and make a day of it.
She said volunteers were being sought to help with registration and parking.
For the second event on October 25, Ms Jenkinson said she was seeking make-up artists who could give up their time for one of the activities at a camp which is being set up to assist the recovery of young victims of sexual abuse.
The camp provided girls aged between 11 and 18 with access to facilitators from community service organisations as well as sessions with older victims who would counsel and provide advice.
The camp was being funded through donations, fundraising and a grant from the Caniwi Foundation.
She asked that anyone able to help with make-up advice call her on 027 324 6205.
