Work has begun on Hastings' first "pocket park", on Warren St.

The council-owned carpark next to Cafe Zigliotto is being converted into a small park, including seating, paved and grass areas, a pergola and water fountain.

The cafe will also use the space for outdoor tables. The Hastings District Council plans to fund other small parks in the inner city, through the $3 million fund set aside from the sale of Nelson Park. Work on the Warren St park is expected to finish by the end of March.
