Young driver goes off road
A 16-year-old emerged unscathed from a Hawke's Bay accident yesterday morning when her car left the road and crashed through a fence before coming to rest in a paddock on the side of State Highway 2.
The crash occurred near Te Mahanga Rd about 9.30am on a straight stretch of road. Her car left the road, crashing down a bank and through a wire fence.
Police said the driver claimed a vehicle had been overtaking oncoming traffic, which had caused her to swerve off the road. They are appealing for any truck drivers who may have seen what happened to contact them.
