IT'S MINE: Hawke's Bay Academy girls player Lynda Coldicutt (left), and Queensland's Jodie Cliffe battle for possession during one of two international fixtures played at the Kelt Capital Hockey Stadium in Napier last night.

Hawke's Bay won the match 2-1 after leading 1-0 at halftime. Outstanding Bay midfielder Merenia Hibbard - who was the difference between the two sides - and Elise Yule scored the hosts goals.

The Hawke's Bay Academy boys team beat their Queensland counterparts 2-0, with Brennan Alexander and Fergus Watts the goalscorers. The boys also led 1-0 at halftime.

Striker Rob Creffier, midfielder Ryan Cosgrove and keeper Sam Greaney were all prominent in the academy boys' victory.

The international double ended a memorable day for Hawke's Bay hockey teams. Earlier in the day the Hawke's Bay A and B under-11 boys teams qualified for their respective finals today at the Napier-hosted lower North Island tournament and the Hawke's Bay A under-11 girls team qualified for their final today at their Stratford-hosted lower North Island tournament.
