SOFTBALL: Ejected over language

Fast Pitch second baseman Puhi Rapaea threatened to smash the face of plate umpire Eric Horsham after he was ejected from Saturday's Hawke's Bay premier men's champion-of-champions final in Hastings.

Rapaea was ejected after he used the vulgarity "bullshit" when he was struck out by Maraenui Pumas pitcher Regan Manley with his first turn at bat in his side's 3-0 loss at Akina Park. It was the second time this season Rapaea has been ejected from a game.

While Rapaea didn't carry out his threat, he did approach Horsham afterwards and asked if Horsham had a problem with him and Horsham told him his language wasn't acceptable.

Whether or not any judicial action will be taken against Rapaea will depend on Horsham filing a report on the incident and he had until tonight to submit one.

Rapaea has been picked up by Hutt Valley Marist for the national men's interclub tournament in Christchurch later this month.
