Hawke's Bay premier men's softballer Puhi Rapaea has escaped punishment after threatening to smash the face of umpire Eric Horsham at the weekend.

The Fast Pitch second baseman made the threat after he was ejected from Saturday's Hawke's Bay premier men's champion of champions final in Hastings which saw his team lose 3-0 to Maraenui Pumas.

Horsham ordered Rapaea from the diamond when he used the vulgarity "bullshit" when struck out by Maraenui Pumas pitcher Regan Manley during his first turn at bat.

It was the second time this season Rapaea had been ejected from a game. No judicial action was taken against Rapaea, who didn't carry out his threat, as Horsham didn't file a report on the incident.
